A 6-level earthquake occurred near the waters of the Magellan region in southern Chile on the 4th. There have been no reports of casualties or property damage at this time.
According to the National Earthquake Center of the University of Chile, the earthquake occurred at 11:47 local time (23:47 Beijing time) on the 4th, with its epicenter located 258 kilometers south of Williams Harbor in the Magellan region, and a depth of 10 kilometers.
The Hydrodynamics and Oceanography Department of the Chilean Navy’s Tsunami Warning Division stated that this earthquake will not cause a tsunami.
Chile is situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, making it prone to frequent earthquakes.
