[Report by Zhao Jiandong] According to media reports from the Israel Times and others, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu abruptly dismissed his spokesperson Omer Dosteri on July 5th, just over a year after Dosteri’s appointment. The report stated that Dosteri was dismissed due to frequent conflicts with Netanyahu’s wife, Sara Netanyahu.
Media outlets quoted an anonymous source from Netanyahu’s office as saying: “Dosteri will not accompany the Prime Minister on visits to Washington. Netanyahu set off for the United States on the evening of the 5th from Tel Aviv.”
Anadolu Agency, a Turkish news agency, cited sources saying, “Dosteri has frequently clashed with Prime Minister’s wife, Sara Netanyahu.” The report mentioned that during Dosteri’s tenure, there were numerous media controversies, including inaccurate interviews, tense relations, and leaking confidential information.
Israeli media also accused Dosteri of excluding certain individuals from the official media group within the Prime Minister’s office.
Turkish media reported that the Israeli security services had arrested four employees of the Prime Minister’s Office last November under the charge of “disclosing sensitive security information to foreign media.” This included a former spokesperson.
The Israel Times noted that this is not the first time Sara Netanyahu has been involved in high-level personnel disputes in Israel. The report highlighted that Sara Netanyahu has a significant influence over senior appointments. During a court testimony in 2023, Liberal Democrat leader Tzipi Livni revealed that during Netanyahu’s tenure, Sara “often intervened in political and professional appointments.”
