On the evening of July 6th, local time, a second group of residents evacuated from Tugular Island in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, had arrived at the port of Kagoshima City by ferry. The evacuees comprised 31 residents from Oshima Island and 15 residents from Kobo Island, totaling 46 individuals.
Currently, the principle of voluntary evacuation is being implemented locally. As of July 6th, there are still 23 residents on Oshima Island and 41 on Kobo Island.
Should there be any further residents wishing to leave, the local government will consider conducting a third round of evacuations.
On the morning of July 4th, local time, the first batch of 13 islanders from Tugular Island’s Oshima Island boarded a boat to seek refuge outside the island. (News)
