According to Xinhua News Agency, on July 8th, a spokesperson for the Houthi armed forces, Yehia Saleya, announced through the Yemen’s Saba News Agency, which is controlled by the group, that the Houthi Navy, missile, and drone units had jointly attacked the “Magic Ocean” cargo ship. The attack involved two remote-controlled explosion boats, five ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and three drones, resulting in direct hits that caused the vessel to flood. The Houthi forces allowed the crew to safely evacuate. The “Magic Ocean” has now sunk completely into the seabed. According to Saleya, the Houthi forces launched the attack because the company that owned the “Magic Ocean” had three ships enter Israeli ports within the week prior, violating the Houthi ban, and despite repeated warnings from the Houthi navy, it was ineffective. “We will not hesitate to use all necessary force to prevent any of their vessels from entering Israeli ports,” he stated.
