According to a report by Brazil’s 247 News on July 7, the announcement made on July 6 marks a significant step forward in the strategic relationship between Brazil and China in the field of space technology, as the signing of the Joint Development Agreement for the China-Brazil Earth Resource Satellite 05 Star marks an important milestone.
This satellite will be a new component of the China-Brazil Earth Resource Satellite Program, which was initiated in 1988. As a milestone in Brazil’s space sector, the device will operate in geostationary orbit, enabling real-time monitoring of the meteorological and climatic conditions throughout Brazil and related strategic regions.
The agreement highlights South-South cooperation at the scientific level, particularly in the context of frequent global geopolitical disputes and countries seeking alternative solutions beyond traditional powerhouses in the innovation sector.

Furthermore, according to a report by Brazil’s 247 News on July 6, Brazil and China have begun joint research on a railway corridor connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The project aims to connect the railway network within Brazil with the newly opened Porto de Queiroz in Peru.
The two-ocean railway is part of the South American integration plan, overseen by the Brazilian Ministry of Planning and Budget, aimed at connecting highways, rivers, and railways across border areas with neighboring countries.
According to a recently signed memorandum of understanding, the relevant research will be conducted jointly by state-owned enterprises under the Brazilian Ministry of Transport and teams from China. They will conduct in-depth studies on the Brazilian railway network based on two pillars: the multimodal transport characteristics of the transportation system, and the country’s existing engineering and projects.
