On July 9th, local time, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent once again mocked Elon Musk’s move to establish “The Party of America” at the “Millionaire Summer Camp” event held in Sun Valley, Idaho. Bessent joked, “He might win votes on Mars.”
This was not the first time Bessent has ridiculed Musk for “separating from the pack.” In an interview on the 6th, he criticized Musk’s announcement of the creation of “The Party of America,” stating that the directors of Tesla and Space Exploration Technologies, which Musk runs, “do not like” this move, and they “would encourage him to focus his attention on business activities rather than political ones.” Bessent remarked, “If you look at public opinion polls, Elon is not popular.”
Musk also retorted on social media on the 6th, calling the U.S. Treasury Secretary “a major in political science who even doesn’t understand mathematics.” (News)
