On July 14th, local time, the minority leader of the House of Representatives in the United States and a Democrat, Jeffries, called for the release of all Epstein case archives.
Epstein, a wealthy businessman, had close interactions with numerous American politicians and business figures. After being arrested on suspicion of sexual crimes, he died in prison in August 2019, leading to his conviction as “suicide.” During Trump’s presidential campaign, he promised to reveal Epstein’s “client list” to expose his crimes and the truth behind his death. Some believe that this list would indicate that Epstein was killed by extortion against American politicians.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Justice declassified documents related to Epstein, including those detailing “sexual predator” Epstein’s involvement in “sexual exploitation” of over 250 underage girls at his residences in New York and Florida, as well as flight logs from his private plane, a large blacklist of names with obfuscated addresses, and a massage therapist list containing 254 blacked-out names. The American public believes that these documents did not reveal any explosive new information related to Epstein’s case.
On July 7th, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a joint memorandum claiming that they had not found Epstein’s so-called “client list” nor any reliable evidence indicating that Epstein had extorted social elites. Epstein’s death was ruled a suicide, not a result of murder or other criminal acts. The U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI also stated that they would not further disclose documents related to Epstein. (Xu Xiao)
