Liverpool News, July 16th – According to the “Mirror,” the transfer of Nunes to Napoli has broken down, and Liverpool must now find a new buyer for this Uruguayan forward.
Since joining Benfica in 2022 for £85 million, Nunes’s performance of 40 goals in 143 matches has not lived up to his market value. This summer, Liverpool spent £116 million on Wertz, a striker who can play as a center-forward, and their aggressive pursuit of Isaac indicates that the new manager Sloch hopes to upgrade the front line in the new season.
Napoli was originally the top favorite to sign Nunes, but due to Liverpool’s asking price of £70 million and the psychological price point of £50 million from Serie A teams, they turned to Udinese’s 24-year-old center forward Lorenzo Luca for a total sum of £30.7 million.
However, Nunes still has options, with Saudi Arabia being one potential next destination. If Osman cannot be signed, then the Riyadh Stars will list Nunes as a replacement target. However, Liverpool needs to be cautious about a shortage of forwards, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich competing for Luis Diaz, and Toata’s unexpected death bringing further competitive impact.
