The Iranian Parliament issued a statement on the 16th, stating that the United States treats negotiations as “deceiving Iran” and “shielding Israel from attacks”, unless the US meets Iran’s preconditions. Iran will not resume nuclear negotiations with the US unless these conditions are met. The statement did not specify the specific content of Iran’s preconditions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi had previously stated that Iran would resume negotiations with the US only if it is ensured that the US will not attack Iran during the negotiation period, and no agreement recognizing Iran’s right to uranium enrichment will be accepted.
According to reports by American media on the 15th, the four countries – the US, UK, France, and Germany – have agreed to set August 31st as the deadline for Iran to reach a nuclear deal with the US. Otherwise, the UK, France, and Germany will reinstate sanctions against Iran.
