On July 17th, local time, it was learned that former Vice President of the United States Mike Pence joined a call for the Trump administration to release more documents related to Jeffrey Epstein’s case.
It is understood that during an interview with a CBS program, Pence stated that it is now the time for the government to disclose all files related to the investigation and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein. Pence also called on the White House to enhance transparency and emphasized the importance of protecting the identities of victims.
Epstein, a wealthy businessman, had close interactions with numerous American politicians and business figures. After being arrested for alleged sexual crimes, he died in prison in August 2019, leading to his death being ruled a “suicide”. During Trump’s presidential campaign, he promised to release a list of “clients” of Epstein, revealing the crimes committed by Epstein and the truth behind his death. Some believe this list would indicate that Epstein was killed to silence him over extortion against prominent American politicians.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Justice declassified documents related to Epstein, including logs from his private plane, a large number of blacked-out names in contact lists, and a massage therapist list containing 254 blacked-out names. The public opinion in the United States believes that these documents did not reveal any explosive new information related to Epstein’s case.
On July 7th this month, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a joint memorandum claiming that they had not found the so-called “client list” of Epstein or reliable evidence indicating that Epstein had extorted social elites. Epstein died by suicide, not as a result of murder or other criminal acts. The U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI also stated that they would not further disclose documents related to Epstein.
