On the 17th, the Policy Director of the Japan Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea issued a statement condemning Japan’s characterization of military force enhancement measures in countries like North Korea as “urgent threats” in its 2025 “Defense White Paper.”
The statement criticized Japan for its shameless rhetoric, attempting to conceal its intention to hand over the entire Japanese archipelago to the United States as a military outpost and base for implementing hegemonic Indo-Pacific strategies. This move is intended to gradually worsen regional situations and rationalize military activities without considering their consequences.
The statement highlighted that Japan has been aggressively purchasing weapons from the United States and deploying them, brutally exploiting and damaging peace and security in the region and even the world. It deliberately creates an imminent state of affairs in the region. The region and the international community should heighten their vigilance against Japan’s increasingly frenzied and dangerous ambitions towards becoming a militaristic power, and firmly oppose it.
