On July 18th, local time, the House of Representatives in the United States passed the National Defense Appropriations Act for the fiscal year 2026 with a vote of 221 in favor and 209 against. The total amount allocated is approximately $832 billion.
It is reported that the bill includes measures to strengthen missile defense, enhance weapons procurement and research funding, and includes appropriations for the President Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome” space-based missile defense system development plan.
On May 20th, President Trump announced the development plan for the “Golden Dome” space-based missile defense system, stating that it aims to be fully operational within three years. Trump mentioned that the “Golden Dome” would integrate with the existing missile defense capabilities of the United States, with the entire system expected to cost about $175 billion. (Xu Tao)
