On the evening of July 18th, Napitra, the Minister of Information and Culture of Cambodia, announced that in recent operations to combat online fraud, Cambodia has arrested a total of 2,270 suspects.

Napitra stated that authorities had conducted surprise searches at 45 scam dens across 12 provinces and cities in Cambodia, with some principal offenders being prosecuted and most participants being returned to their home countries.
On July 14th, Prime Minister Hun Sen signed an order to launch a nationwide crackdown on telecommunications and internet crimes, aimed at maintaining public order and social stability. He mentioned that some foreign criminal groups have been exploiting Cambodia as a base for their illegal internet activities. Leaders from various provinces and police must eradicate all telecommunications and internet scam dens within their jurisdictions according to the law and regulations.
At the end of February this year, the government established a committee directly led by Hun Sen to combat online fraud, aiming to enhance the efficiency of relevant agencies and collaborate with international partners to combat cross-border cybercrime.
