On July 18th, local time, the retired US Navy aircraft carrier “Midway” was struck by a boat approximately 18 meters long docked in San Diego Bay, USA. Eyewitnesses reported that a loud “boom” was heard at the time of the collision. San Diego Bay port officials stated that “Midway” appeared to have sustained no significant damage. The vessel responsible for the collision has since left the scene, and the captain is under arrest for suspected drunk driving, with no injuries reported on board. “Midway” was commissioned in September 1945 and decommissioned in 1992. It was reopened as a museum in 2004.
