According to Politico, a US political news website, President Donald Trump announced on social media platforms that, following a meeting with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte at the White House on the 22nd local time, the United States had reached a trade agreement with the Philippines.
In a post on his social media platform “Truth Social,” Trump stated: “This was a pleasant visit. We have reached a trade agreement where the Philippines will open its markets to the United States and implement zero tariffs. The United States will impose a 19% tariff on goods imported from the Philippines.”
At present, the White House has not yet released more details about the US-Philippines trade agreement. The final terms of the agreement have not been officially confirmed by the Marcos administration.
