According to Politico, a US political news website, President Donald Trump announced on social media platforms that the United States had reached a trade agreement with the Philippines following a meeting between him and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte at the White House on the 22nd local time.
In a post on his social media platform “Truth Social,” Trump stated: “It was a pleasant visit. We have reached a trade agreement where the Philippines will open its market to the United States and implement zero tariffs. The United States will impose a 19% tariff on goods imported from the Philippines.”
Currently, the White House has not disclosed further details of the US-Philippines trade agreement. The final terms of the agreement have not yet been officially confirmed by the Marcos administration.
