On July 25th, local time, the Cambodian Mine Action Agency issued a statement condemning the use of artillery shells with cluster munitions by the Thai military in a natural village on the Cambodian-Thai border. The statement accused this action of grave violations of international humanitarian law and posing a threat to border residents, mine clearance personnel, and the community.
The statement called for Thailand to immediately cease using such weapons, maintain the principles of international humanitarian law through peaceful dialogue, and promised to uphold transparency and accountability. It also invited participation from international bodies such as the United Nations and ASEAN in monitoring the situation.
However, Thailand has yet to respond to this statement. (CCTV Reporter: Fu Xinri)
