The Sun newspaper reported today that 30-year-old Luke Shaw is considering leaving Manchester United during the winter transfer window to seek his fortunes in Saudi Arabia.
The report states that Shaw has been informed by a Saudi club of their keen interest in him and is prepared to listen to offers, potentially departing from Manchester United in January next year. Shaw’s contract with Manchester United is set to expire after two years, but his time at the club may be coming to an end.
Luke Shaw has long suffered from injuries, and The Sun has compiled a list of his injuries during his tenure at Manchester United, missing out on 339 matches over 11 seasons. Last season, due to a calf injury, Shaw only played 12 games for Manchester United, accumulating less than 600 minutes of playing time.
It is known that Shaw is regarded as a popular and influential figure within the Manchester United dressing room. Amorim is not eager to sell him off, with Shaw earning a weekly wage of £150,000 at Manchester United.
If the player decides to leave, given his history of injuries and appearances, Manchester United should not face much difficulty in terms of transfer fees.
