On the 25th local time, an Egyptian official stated that the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip have not broken down, and they will continue in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on the 28th.
The Egyptian official mentioned that although the Israeli negotiating team and the American facilitator had left Doha on the 24th, a senior US official explicitly informed Egypt and Qatar that their representatives would return to Doha on the evening of the 27th, and negotiations would resume on the 28th. The official also reported that Egypt and Qatar had informed the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) negotiating team about this news.
According to another Hamas official, Hamas representatives held talks with the representatives of Qatar and Egypt on the night of the 24th in Doha regarding the progress of negotiations. The Qatari and Egyptian sides clearly stated that the facilitators would maintain contact with the relevant parties, and negotiations would continue.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement on the 24th, stating that due to the response made by Hamas to the proposal for a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip that day, it has decided to recall the Israeli negotiating team from Doha. The US Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, Wittkopf, also announced the recall of US personnel involved in the negotiations on the same day.
Since June, Israel and Hamas have been conducting new rounds of indirect negotiations in Doha on issues such as the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of detainees. (CCTV Zhao Fangyuan)
