On the morning of July 26th, local time,
Thailand and Cambodia engaged in another firefight at their border region.
The Thai military reported that Cambodian soldiers opened fire on Thai soldiers first, which was then retaliated upon by the Thai forces.
Conflict broke out between Cambodia and Thailand on the border region on the 24th, with both sides accusing each other of violating international law.
In a statement released on the night of the 25th, the Cambodian Ministry of Defense stated that on July 24th, Thailand launched an intentional, unprovoked, and illegal military attack against Cambodia. This action violated Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and contravened the United Nations Charter.
On the 25th, it was learned from the station that Thailand has expressed its principle acceptance of the proposal for mediation of the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia made by Malaysia, the rotating chair of ASEAN.
