On July 26th, local time,
The Cambodian Ministry of Defense sternly refuted claims that Cambodia had first violated or invaded Thailand, stating that such information is false and urged the Thai side to disclose the specific locations or sites involved in the alleged violations by Cambodia.
Marie Suthepda, spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of Defense, stated that at present, Cambodia is a victim of Thailand’s invasion, not an “aggressor” as some false reports have portrayed it; Cambodia reserves the right to retaliate, aiming solely to defend its national sovereignty and territory. The Cambodian Ministry of Defense also emphasized that its military adheres to the principle of attacking only Thai military targets, with a policy against civilian attacks, and has thus far firmly upheld the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country without losing any land.
Earlier on the same day, the Thai Army Intelligence Service issued formal letters to the United States, China, Russia, and other 26 countries through their foreign missions, claiming that Cambodian forces were the first to initiate the attack, targeting Thai civilians, communities, and hospitals, severely violating Thailand’s sovereignty.
