According to news reports, on the 26th local time, data from the Thai government and military indicate that the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia has resulted in 20 deaths in Thailand, including 13 civilians and 7 soldiers.
Global Times quoted the Bangkok Post from Thailand, stating that as the border conflict with Cambodia continues, Thai Foreign Minister Maray stated on the 25th that he had requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop a plan for the evacuation of Thai citizens in Cambodia.
The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a high-level meeting on the 25th to assess the situation of the Thai-Cambodian conflict and discuss evacuation strategies. During the meeting via video link, Maray mentioned, “I have asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop a plan for the evacuation of Thai citizens currently in Cambodia.”
Maray also said that after consultation with the Thai Ministry of Transport, relevant agencies, and airlines, measures have been agreed upon to assist Thai citizens who wish to return home.
Recent exchanges between Cambodia and Thailand along their border regions have led to accusations of each side violating international law. On the morning of the 26th local time, Thailand and Cambodia engaged in further clashes at their border areas.
On July 26th, the Thai Army Intelligence Agency sent formal letters to 26 countries through its foreign attaché channels, claiming that the Cambodian army initiated the attack first and targeted Thai civilians, communities, and hospitals, severely infringing on Thailand’s sovereignty. Subsequently, the Cambodian Defense Ministry sternly refuted claims that Cambodia was the first to violate or invade Thailand, stating these were false.
