According to several Indian media reports, a major mass grave case has recently surfaced in Karnataka state, India, with hundreds of victims. The majority of the victims were women and children, many of whom had signs of sexual assault or burns on their bodies. The bodies were buried near a temple that dates back over eight hundred years. In early July, a man submitted relevant documents to the local police, accusing the temple of burying and destroying hundreds of victim’s bodies. According to the informant, he worked at the temple from 1995 to 2014, and was forced to bury the bodies due to threats from his superiors. Currently, the Karnataka government has established a special investigation team led by senior police officers.
