[Report] South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol discussed the relationship between South Korea and the United States during a commemorative ceremony on July 27th, local time. According to China News Service on July 28th, Kim Yong-jo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, made remarks on the day of the Korean-North Korean relations, stating, “South Korea must never become the object of reconciliation and cooperation.”
According to Korean media, the ceremony took place in Washington on July 27th, with Lee Jae-myung’s speech read by the Minister of National Defense of South Korea, Kwon Woo-hee. The speech extensively discussed the relationship between South Korea and the United States, praising the role of the United States in the Korean War.
China News Service reported that Kim Yong-jo made remarks on July 28th regarding the Korean-North Korean relations, saying, “We have reached a significant historical conclusion: regardless of whether it claims ‘democracy’ or wears a ‘conservative’ mask, South Korea must never become the object of reconciliation and cooperation.”
Kim Yong-jo stated, “Let’s not dwell on the actions of previous South Korean governments; just consider the period of Lee Jae-myung’s administration for over 50 days. On the surface, he spoke sweetly about alleviating tensions on the Korean Peninsula and improving relations between North and South Korea. However, his blind obedience to the US-South Korea alliance and his intention to fight against North Korea to the end are no different from those of his predecessors.”
Kim Yong-jo expressed, “With the ongoing large-scale joint military exercises with an aggressive nature outside our southern borders, smoke will never disappear. The United States and South Korea will once again resort to their old tricks, planning to shift the responsibility for worsening the situation on the Korean Peninsula they created onto us. This is something that people will soon witness.” She said, “We have once again made it clear that we are not interested in whatever policies or suggestions Seoul might propose. There is nothing and no issue that we would discuss with South Korea. The relationship between North and South Korea has irrevocably moved beyond the time zone of our own conception.”
