On July 28th, local time, the head of the rescue department in Baden-Württemberg state, Germany, stated that preliminary investigations have confirmed:
The early morning of July 27 saw heavy rainfall wash away a section of railway embankment near Whittlingen city, resulting in a train derailment that evening.
The derailment has so far resulted in three deaths and over fifty injuries, with more than twenty seriously injured. At the time of the accident, the train was traveling at an average speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The section of the road where the accident occurred is still closed. (Reported by Tao Ye)
