Kim Yong-Jin: The Nuclear-Weapon State Status of North Korea Is Inevitable; Contact Between North and South Only a “Hope” for the US (News)
Kim Yong-Jin, Deputy Minister of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, published a speech on July 28 titled “The Contact Between North and South Is Only a ‘Hope’ for the US.”
In his speech, Kim Yong-Jin stated that the US unilaterally evaluates past North-South dialogues, which North Korea does not wish to give any significance to.
Kim Yong-Jin mentioned that the irreversible status of North Korea as a nuclear-weapon state and its capabilities, along with the geopolitical environment, have fundamentally changed. Acknowledging this fact should become the premise for predicting and thinking about everything in the future.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is open to any options for maintaining its current national status.
Kim Yong-Jin expressed that if the United States does not accept the changing reality and clings to the failed past, the meeting between North and South can only remain at the level of the US’s “hope.” (CCTV Dong Haitao)
