On July 29th, local time, New York Mayor Eric Adams stated that the gunman targeted the offices of the National Football League (NFL) headquarters at 345 Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York City, on the evening of the 28th.
Adams revealed that investigators found a note on the gunman, Shane Tian Village, stating he suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a neurodegenerative disease associated with head injuries, commonly seen in veterans and athletes, including football players, ice hockey players, and boxers.
According to preliminary investigations, the gunman attempted to reach the NFL headquarters but mistakenly took an elevator to the wrong floor. He went to the 33rd floor of Rudin Management, where he committed another shooting and then took his own life.
Previously, New York City Police Commissioner Jacquelyn Rice mentioned that the gunman seemed to act alone, though it remains unclear what his motives were.
The police reported that the suspect had a history of mental health issues and had played football in high school, dreaming of becoming a professional player.
A shooting incident occurred on the evening of the 28th in a high-rise office building in Manhattan, New York City, resulting in five deaths and numerous injuries. Public information reveals that the Park Avenue 345 building, which stands 44 stories tall, is home to the Blackstone Group and the headquarters of the NFL.
