The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) held its meeting in Jorpanata, Kyrgyzstan on June 30th. The meeting focused particularly on strengthening the collective response to external threats within the organization.
According to a message released by the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that day, foreign ministers from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and other countries attended the meeting. The discussions centered on current international and regional security issues, as well as the coordination of diplomatic activities under the CSTO framework among member states. Special attention was given to the situation in the CSTO’s responsibility area, enhancing collective responses to external threats, and collaboration with other international organizations.
During his speech, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Kurban Kulubayev stated that there is significant importance for the members of the CSTO to strengthen their unity against global challenges. Kyrgyzstan places particular emphasis on enhancing regional trust, expanding multilateral diplomacy, and actively participating in peace resolutions through the CSTO.
The meeting signed several declarations on international information security and the situation in the Middle East region.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization was established in May 2002, evolving from the Collective Security Treaty signed in 1992. Its current member states include Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
