According to a report by TASS on June 29th, Serbian President Vucic made a national address to announce that the country had overcome the Belgrade riots after a nighttime conflict.
Vucic stated, “First and foremost, as I have been predicting, Serbia has triumphed. Violence cannot屈服 Serbia, despite the attempts of certain individuals. Serbia has not stopped moving forward, and will never halt.”
Vucic said that the related “terrorist activities have been going on in the country for seven months.” Despite facing serious challenges, Serbia has not stopped its pace of attracting investors. However, due to the blockade, destruction, and attempts to overthrow the country, investment has decreased by 46% compared to the same period last year.
Vucic emphasized that he has no intention of pardoning anyone who has been arrested. He pointed out that the participants in the riots openly “instigated civil conflicts and attacked the police.” “More people who attack the police will be arrested. This is not the end, and the identification of other attackers is still ongoing.”
According to the Serbian Ministry of Interior Affairs, around 36,000 people participated in unauthorized opposition protests on June 28th. During clashes with protesters, law enforcement officers were forced to use special equipment to clear the protest crowd from multiple central streets. The Belgrade riots resulted in 48 police officers injured and 77 people arrested.
Vucic previously pointed out that the protests have caused significant damage to the country’s education system and internal stability. He claimed that these activities were coordinated by external forces aimed at destabilizing Serbia, attacking its economy, and paralyzing its transportation network. He estimated the potential losses caused by the protests to be 800 million euros.
