On August 1, local time, President Trump of the United States took to social media platform “Reality Social” to criticize the Bureau of Labor Statistics for artificially inflating employment figures prior to the 2024 U.S. presidential election, demanding the immediate dismissal of Director Erika McEntuff and replacing her with a more capable candidate.
Trump accused the bureau of severely overestimating new job creation in March 2024 and several months before the election, believing this was intended to boost Vice President Harris’s victory. He also criticized the Federal Reserve’s decision to lower interest rates before the election as “market manipulation,” suggesting that Chair Powell should be replaced. (Xu Dezhi)
