On June 30th local time, it was learned that the Trump administration in the United States filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles City, California, concerning immigration policies.
The lawsuit initiated by the Department of Justice claims that the laws and policies in Los Angeles are hindering the enforcement of federal immigration law. In a statement, Attorney General Barr stated that jurisdictions like Los Angeles, which disregard federal law and prioritize illegal immigrants over American citizens, are undermining law enforcement at all levels.
In early June, federal agencies such as the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) began law enforcement operations against illegal immigrants across various areas of Los Angeles County, California, leading to continuous conflicts with local residents. On June 7th, President Trump signed a presidential memorandum ordering the Department of Defense to deploy National Guard personnel into the Los Angeles area without the request of Governor Newsom. This move faced strong opposition from both Democratic-led local governments in Los Angeles and the state government. (Zhao Miao, CCTV)
