According to a report by Reuters on August 13th, sources have revealed that
The U.S. government has implanted secret trackers in some of its technological products shipped with AI chips, attempting to trace potentially transferred products to China.
Christina Pazinieros, a spokesperson for the American tech industry, stated that installing such trackers often requires only administrative approval. It is noteworthy that companies like Dell and Supermicro, which sell servers containing Nvidia chips, may have been aware of the trackers but did not respond to media inquiries.
However, sources also mentioned that the U.S. government might not yet have installed tracking devices on individual chips, as chip-level monitoring requires embedded signal software, essentially turning each chip into a “beacon,” making the technology more complex.
