On the 16th local time, Russian President Putin convened the heads of the Russian President Office, government, State Duma (the lower house of parliament), and relevant departments and units at the Kremlin to discuss the outcomes of the Alaska Summit.

The visit to Alaska was timely and very beneficial. The summit discussed all aspects of Russian-American cooperation, with the primary topic being the mediation of the Ukraine issue. Putin stated that during his visit to Alaska, he discussed with US President Trump the resolution of the Ukraine crisis on a fair basis, as well as the origins of the crisis. He pointed out that:

Eliminating its fundamental causes should be the basis for mediating the crisis.

Putin also expressed respect for the US position, and said that Russia hopes to resolve the Ukraine crisis in a peaceful manner.

On the 15th local time, US President Trump and Russian President Putin met at the Elmendorf-Richardson Joint Military Base in Anchorage, Alaska. The meeting lasted for more than two and a half hours. Both sides stated that the meeting was “constructive” and “fruitful”, but no agreements were reached on issues such as the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
