The Canadian Public Employees Union stated on the 17th local time that despite the order of the Canada Industrial Relations Board for the airline flight attendants to return to work, they will continue with their strike. The union also invited Air Canada to return to the negotiation table for fair negotiations. Earlier that day, Air Canada had announced that it would resume flights on the evening of the 17th local time.
Air Canada and the Canadian Public Employees Union had previously negotiated for months over issues such as salary increases and benefits, but failed to reach an agreement. Starting from early on the 16th local time, more than 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants went on strike, and all Air Canada flights were suspended. Air Canada stated that after the union issued a strike notice on the 13th local time, it had gradually reduced its daily flights. During the strike, about one million passengers per day were affected. (By Zhang Yingzhe, Central Desk.)
