【Report】Ukrainian President Zelenskyi posted on social media platform X late at night local time on the 17th, announcing that he had arrived in the US capital, Washington.

“I have arrived in Washington and will meet with President Trump tomorrow. We will also meet with European leaders tomorrow,” Zelenskyi said in his post. “Thank Trump for the invitation. We all strongly hope to end this war quickly in a reliable way. Peace must be lasting.”
“Russia must end this war,” Zelenskyi also said in his post. “I hope that the combined strength of our friends in the United States and Europe will be able to force Russia towards real peace.”
Earlier on the 17th local time, Trump posted on social media, “Ukrainian President Zelenskyi can end the war with Russia almost immediately if he wants to. He can also choose to keep fighting.” Trump also claimed that Ukraine “cannot reclaim” Crimea or join NATO, “some things will never change.”
Zelenskyi’s visit to the United States is his first since his high-profile and intense dispute with Trump at the White House on February 28th. Trump held a meeting with Russian President Putin in Anchorage, Alaska on August 15th.
Multiple European leaders accompanied Zelenskyi on his visit to the United States.
