Fernando Haddad, Brazil’s Finance Minister, stated during an event in Sao Paulo on August 18th that the tariff negotiations between Brazil and the United States have reached an impasse.
Haddad said that the US has linked trade issues to the judicial case of Brazilian former President Bolsonaro, attempting to impose a solution that cannot be achieved within the framework of the Brazilian constitution. “This request is impossible to fulfill, and we have reached a deadlock.”
He indicated that Brazil-US trade has significantly decreased in recent years and may continue to decline in the future. (Xinhua News Agency)
