On the afternoon of August 20th, local time, the defense ministers of 32 member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization held a video conference to discuss the security of Ukraine.
After the meeting, the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Giuseppe Cavalier Dragone said that,
NATO member countries confirmed their support for Ukraine.
The priority of NATO is still to achieve a fair, credible and lasting peace.
The new Supreme Commander of the European Allied Forces of NATO, Alexis Grinkevich, made a report on the security environment.
It is reported that the EU is considering establishing a treaty for Ukraine equivalent to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty — which stipulates that any attack on one of the 32 member countries is equivalent to an attack on all, and its allies will automatically provide defense for it. The defense ministers of NATO member countries discussed this on the same day.(By Song Liang, Central Desk)
