On August 21st, local time, the New York State Supreme Court of Appeals overturned the judgment of President Trump being sentenced to a fine of about $500 million due to civil fraud.
Trump posted on his social media platform “Real Social” that he deeply respects the court for “having the courage to overturn this illegal and disgraceful ruling,” and from a business perspective, this ruling is an “unprecedented political persecution.”
On the same day, the New York State Attorney General’s Office appealed the ruling rejected by the court of appeals.
On September 21st, 2022, the New York State Attorney General announced a comprehensive lawsuit against Trump and his three adult children as well as the Trump Organization, accusing Trump and his family of financial fraud for economic benefits.
On February 28th, 2024, the New York Appeal Court ruled that Trump must pay the full fine of $454 million for his civil fraud case. On November 26th of the same year, Trump’s lawyer, who was elected President of the United States, requested the New York State Attorney General James to withdraw the civil fraud allegations against Trump and his family and business.
