According to a report by NBC citing sources with knowledge of the situation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raided the residence of John Bolton, the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs during Trump’s first term, in Maryland today (August 22nd). It is claimed that this action is part of a “national security investigation” aimed at searching for “potentially classified documents”. The FBI currently refuses to comment on this report, and Bolton has not responded yet. The director of the FBI, Kash Patel, expressed on social media that “no one is above the law… FBI agents are carrying out their duties.”

Bolton served as the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs from April 2018 to September 2019 under the Trump administration, and previously worked in the Reagan administration, the George H.W. Bush administration, and the George W. Bush administration. He served as the United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations from August 2005 to December 2006. Earlier this year, Trump revoked Bolton’s Secret Service protection just days after starting his second term. (CCTV International News)
