According to Reuters, on the evening of July 1st local time, the Israeli military announced that it had intercepted a missile fired from Yemen. Defense Minister Benny Katz warned that retaliatory strikes would be launched against Houthi forces. On the same day, the Houthi armed forces in Yemen declared that they had launched a ballistic missile and three drones at four targets including Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport.
In a statement, Katz stated: “The fate of Yemen (Houthi forces) is the same as that of Tehran. After breaking the snake’s head in Tehran, we will also strike at the Houthi forces in Yemen. Any attempt to harm Israel will result in its wrists being severed.”
Reuters reported that since the outbreak of new conflict between Israel and Palestine, the Houthi armed forces have frequently launched attacks on Israel, claiming this was in support of the Palestinians who are suffering from Israeli aggression. Israel has threatened that if the Houthi forces continue their attacks on Israel, it will implement a sea and air blockade.
On July 1st, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Hurka posted on social media platform X: “The Houthi forces just launched a missile over Israel. Fortunately, Israel’s strong interception system allowed us to hide behind cover until everything returned to normal. Perhaps it’s time to send those B-2 bombers to Yemen to see for themselves!” In June, the US military dispatched seven B-2 bombers to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities.
