Reported by Suo Yanqi, according to Reuters on the 3rd, a source revealed that the US government had told General Electric Aerospace on that day that it could resume supplying jet engines to China’s Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC). The report claimed that this was another sign of easing trade tensions between the United States and China.
The report also quoted another source as saying that at least one other aerospace company’s suspension in China had been lifted on Thursday (the 3rd), but the source declined to reveal which company it was.
Reuters said that none of General Electric, the US Department of Commerce that issued the notice, or the spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in the United States immediately responded to requests for comment on the above news.
The news comes at a time when Reuters mentioned that the United States has also lifted export restrictions on chip design software developers and ethane producers to China this week, indicating that trade negotiations between the two countries are advancing.
On June 27th, when the spokesman for China’s Ministry of Commerce answered questions about the situation related to the Sino-US London framework, it was mentioned that recently, with approval, both sides further confirmed the details of the framework. China will approve the export applications of controlled items that meet the requirements in accordance with laws. The US side will lift a series of restrictive measures against China accordingly. At the regular press conference of China’s Foreign Ministry on June 27th, spokesperson Guo Jiakun responded to inquiries about the confirmation of the details of the London framework between China and the United States by saying that the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Commerce had already answered questions. I want to emphasize that we hope that the US side will work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of the two countries, leverage the role of the US-China economic and trade consultation mechanism, enhance consensus, reduce misunderstandings, and strengthen cooperation through communication and dialogue, and promote stable, healthy, and sustainable development of the China-US relation.
