On June 28th, local time, the Red Sea State’s local organization, “Red Sea State Resistance Committee,” issued a statement stating that
a collapse incident occurred at a gold mine in the state, resulting in at least 50 miners killed.
The statement mentioned that these more than 50 miners died of asphyxiation due to the mine collapse. The gold mine is located in a desert area and is remotely situated. The accident response team was unable to arrive on site in time after the incident, leading to significant casualties.
