The T1 smartphone, adorned with a土豪金外壳 and featuring the Stars and Stripes flag, comes with a wallpaper that immediately sets the tone for “Making America Great Again” (MAGA). Designed to incorporate elements of President Trump’s persona, this device is a testament to his influence in the tech industry.
Recently, the Trump Organization made a significant move into the smartphone market, launching a phone priced at $499 (approximately 3600 RMB) boasting a “Made in the USA” claim. Eric Trump, the president’s second son, has also declared that the phone and its mobile services are aimed at echoing Trump’s policies on revitalizing American manufacturing and increasing employment.
However, within just a month of its release in mid-June, American media began to question the authenticity of the “Made in the USA” claim. Todd Weaver, CEO of Purism, the only domestic US smartphone manufacturer, unapologetically exposed the Trump Group’s so-called “Made in the USA” lie, revealing that the phone was produced by a Chinese company.
This week, American media discovered that the Trump Group had quietly changed their tune, removing the “Made in the USA” description from their official sales website, stating that the phone boasts a design that “brings pride to Americans” and was “born in the United States.”
