Recently, a recent public opinion poll in Japan has shown that the cabinet led by Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has an approval rating of 24%, which is below 30% for the fourth consecutive month.
A cabinet approval rate below 30% is considered entering “dangerous waters”; if it falls below 20%, it is seen as falling into “the watershed of resignation.” According to Japanese media, if the current ruling coalition fails to secure more than half of the seats in the National Diet on July 20th, Yoshihide Suga may lose his prime ministerial position.
