Around 20:50 local time on June 30th, the Boeing 738 aircraft carrying Japan Airlines flight 8696 from Shanghai to Narita International Airport made an emergency landing at Kansai International Airport. According to the Osaka Air Bureau of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism,
all 191 passengers and crew members aboard were unharmed or showed no signs of discomfort.
According to reports from the Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, as well as other departments, the aircraft triggered an alarm indicating “pressure system failure.” It is suspected that there was a decompression condition inside the cabin. The pilot declared an emergency to air traffic control, subsequently changing the destination to land at Kansai Airport.
