According to a report by the American “Beast Daily” on June 30th, local time, the White House released a presidential animated livestream promoting its “Big and Beautiful” bill.
The “Beast Daily” described the livestream as titled “A Big and Beautiful Lo-Fi (Low-Fidelity) MAGA (Short for ‘Make America Great Again’) video.” The report detailed that according to the livestream video, in the animation on the left side of the screen, the animated Trump is seen operating a frying pan and waving at customers. On the right side of the screen, text scrolls out to explain the benefits of the “Big and Beautiful” bill, which allegedly would bring federal spending back to normal, permanently ensure border security, and modernize air traffic control, among other key points. The video’s background music has a soothing rhythm. The report mentioned that this animated representation refers to Trump’s “propaganda stunt” during his 2024 presidential campaign, when he worked at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania.
The report also noted that this was not the first time the Trump administration had used this method. At the beginning of May, the Trump administration launched similar livestreams on platforms like YouTube and social media X, where cartoon versions of Trump were seen writing and drawing on the “firm desk” of the presidency, listing promises made to the American people. Trump was not the first political figure to use this method. British former Prime Minister Boris Johnson also launched a similar video during his 2019 election campaign.
The video sparked controversy on social media platforms X. Some netizens commented, “You guys made such a long video, just talking about what you hope the bill will express, rather than directly releasing the specific content of the bill. It doesn’t seem like the ‘most transparent government’ you claim.” Some questioned and mocked, “Would you watch this kind of propaganda?” Others expressed their views on the bill promoted in the video, “This bill is big but not beautiful; it’s bulky and cruel.”
It is understood that the “Big and Beautiful” bill, which was voted on by the Senate with a one-vote margin in May, passed the House with a narrow margin in May. It includes multiple clauses and spans 940 pages, touching on sensitive issues in American politics, including significant tax cuts, new energy subsidies, and social security expenditures, as well as increasing military and border security spending. The Senate passed the procedural vote for the bill on June 28th with a slim margin, with all Democratic senators voting against and two Republican senators in favor. Democrats criticized the bill as “rich off poor,” arguing that tax cuts primarily benefit the wealthy while cutting low-income groups’ dependence on social welfare. Elon Musk, former advisor to Trump and CEO of Tesla, even called the bill “crazy and destructive,” stating it would “destroy millions of American jobs and cause a strategic blow.” The bill faced delays from Democrats in the Senate, forcing the originally scheduled vote on June 29th to be postponed until the morning of June 30th.
