Thailand’s Constitutional Court announced on July 1st that it has accepted a petition concerning the investigation into whether Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha is in violation of the constitution, and has decided to suspend his powers as Prime Minister immediately.
According to the court’s statement, nine judges of the Constitutional Court voted 9-0 in favor of the petition, and with a vote of 7-2, decided to suspend Prayut Chan-ocha from exercising his duties as Prime Minister until a decision is made.
The Thai Prime Minister has been placed under suspension due to allegations of “phonegate”.
