From the search and rescue center in Port Kedah, Indonesia, it has been learned that as of now, the sinking incident involving the “KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya” ferry has been reported.
Additionally, the port of Geelaniukirk, Indonesia, has released a new report stating that around 3 AM local time on the same day, the involved ferry from Port Kedah to Geelaniukirk transmitted a distress signal, reporting engine compartment leakage and subsequent power outages. Subsequently, the vessel capsized and drifted southward. The location where the vessel capsized was reported to relevant authorities.
Rescue operations are currently underway, with further information awaiting confirmation.
It is known that the vessel was carrying 53 passengers and 12 crew members. To date, four individuals have been confirmed dead in the accident. According to information obtained from the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, no Chinese citizens were mentioned in the accident report so far. (Li Lin, China Central Television)
