According to the WeChat public account “China Embassy in Bolivia,” on July 5th, the Chinese Embassy in Bolivia issued a reminder about the prevention of measles outbreak in Bolivia: The measles epidemic in Bolivia has worsened recently, with over 70 confirmed cases, mainly concentrated in Santa Cruz Province (over 60 cases), and the government has declared a national health emergency. A Chinese citizen has been confirmed as infected in Cochabamba Province (now under quarantine).
The Chinese Consulates in Bolivia hereby remind all Chinese citizens planning to visit Bolivia that before arriving, they should have received the measles vaccine; after arrival, avoid crowded areas and areas with poor air circulation in Santa Cruz Province where the epidemic is high; if necessary to go there, wear a mask; maintain good personal hygiene habits, and seek timely medical treatment for suspected or early symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, hoarse voice, conjunctivitis, and Koch’s spots (Koplik’s spots) in the oral mucosa.
