Hamas has described its positive response to the ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip.
On the evening of July 4th local time, Hamas issued a statement saying it had made a “positive” response to the ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip through negotiations and mediation. In the statement, Hamas mentioned that in order to prevent Israel’s aggression in the Gaza Strip, it had completed internal consultations with various Palestinian factions and responded positively to the negotiation mediators. Hamas is “ready to engage seriously to initiate negotiations on the implementation mechanism of the ceasefire agreement.”
Israeli media reported that despite Hamas’s response, it still demanded minor modifications to the ceasefire plan.
However, according to an Israeli newspaper on the evening of July 4th local time, citing sources, despite Hamas’s response, it still requested minor modifications to the ceasefire plan.
The report mentioned that Hamas asked both the United States and Israel to support the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” which was established, to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and continue to be responsible for the distribution of humanitarian aid in the area by international organizations and institutions such as the United Nations. Hamas also requested that the Israeli military withdraw to the agreed positions at the last ceasefire.
Furthermore, Hamas demanded that the negotiation mediators, including the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, guarantee that after 60 days of ceasefire, Israel will not launch military operations against Gaza again, and that both sides will continue negotiations towards achieving a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
As for this report, Hamas has yet to respond.
